Additional Frequently Asked CBD Questions
Q: Why take one CBD form over the other?
A: The answer to this relies solely on the individual. It was once thought that an isolate was the superior option, but new research has dispelled this myth. So, when would you use one over the other? If you simply cannot have any THC (even the low amount in CBD that is less than 0.3%), using an isolate is ideal because it contains only CBD. Many love the full spectrum of a whole plant extract because it contains other cannabis compounds and terpenes which all work together in what is known as the “entourage effect.” Essentially, when cannabinoids, terpenes, flavonoids, and fatty acids are preserved in the extract, they all work together to both support and amplify the healing effects of CBD, more than it would just on its own.
Q: How long does it take for CBD to work?
A: Because CBD works for everyone differently, each person will have a different experience with it. We realize this sounds a little convoluted, but it’s true, it will work differently because each person has unique health issues specific to them.
The best course of action is to get in tune with your body! You may require a little more or a little less of your CBD product and you’ll find what works for you when you know how your body reacts.
For some people, they respond immediately to a CBD tincture for their anxiety, while others with chronic pain may take more time. Commit to at least using one tincture or bottle of capsules fully.
Q: How do I know how much CBD to take?
A: Again, this will vary from person to person, so it’s vital to know you’re body. In the industry the adage is, “start low, go slow.” The beauty of CBD tinctures is you can adjust your doses quite easily. For example, if you purchase a 500mg CBD tincture you can always take more or take less depending on how your body responds.
Because everyone responds differently to dosages, playing around and being your own guinea pig is a great idea! Keep a journal and record how you feel after you take a dropperful of a 500mg tincture once a day and then tweak it a little bit and take half a dropperful twice a day — see what works best for you. Below are other things you can try.
- Take it with or without food
- If using for sleep, experiment with the time you take it before you go to sleep.
- If using it for emotional wellness, keep track of how you feel each week.
- If using it for migraines, experiment with an acute dosage — how many dropperfuls do you need before you find relief?
