Cannacomplexion: How CBD Products Can Elevate Your Skincare Routine (Part One)
Is CBD the missing link in your skincare products?
Cannabis seems to be the all-encompassing plant, the panacea of medicine that supports everything from your immune system and aches and pains, to sleep disturbances. As CBD products are being ushered from fringe medicine to the mainstream culture, CBD is beginning to crop up just about everywhere, in everything — for good reason.
If you’re here, you know that hemp heals.
Healing Power of Hemp knows intimately that life with CBD affects so many positive changes — hemp is life-giving and oftentimes life-changing. Trying a hemp tincture or an infused massage oil doesn’t have to be intimidating.
Let’s shed the notion that CBD is a villain or gets you high, and embrace it for what it really is — a therapeutic modality to help elevate your health and wellness.

The Importance of Healthy Skin
Your skin is the integumentary system that interacts freely and wildly with our external world. It makes first contact with textures and it our first defense to ward off bacteria and viruses.
Our skin protects us.
Our skin is our largest organ and it’s uncommon in that it breathes — it absorbs what we put on it, which can be healing or harmful.
Our skin also tells a story, and for women, it’s wound tightly into our hormones.
So, while it’s easy to dismiss the skin conditions people face such as dry skin, oily skin, acne, aging skin, and give them a one-size-fits-all approach — it just doesn’t work that way. Just like healthy eating habits — some people are all or nothing and some do well with moderation, but at the end of the day they’re still staying committed to their health, but are going about it differently.
Taking care and being gentle with your skin is of high importance and there are better habits you can create to address your overall skin health.
Sober curious is a new concept that asks people living healthy lifestyles, why are we still drinking? We do yoga and lift heavy weights. We eat our veggies and stick to an organic diet. We practice mindfulness and meditation — self-care is at the core of how we want to show up in this world. And yet, at the end of a stressful workday, in a socially awkward situation, or to kick off our weekend, we reach for the alcohol. And we don’t just reach — one glass of rosé to unwind turns into the whole. damn. bottle.
As an adult, it’s like alcohol is on autopilot — we turn to it for everything, yet it’s really not loving us back. Beyond weight gain and terrible headaches, alcohol greatly impacts our skin — especially women.
Without getting into the technical nitty-gritty science of hooch and hormones (but you can read about it here) alcohol can affect women by intruding on and disturbing our hormones by throwing our estrogen levels way off — and this, makes our skin act out, typically in breakouts.
Alcohol can also enlarge blood vessels and, over time, people develop larger oil glands as a result.
There is no judgment here, but if you’re dealing specifically with acne-prone skin, curbing the alcohol may help.
We’ve only just begun, and whoa did we hit alcohol and skin health hard! Healthy skin begins with how we support our bodies! There are many more skin health facets to cover, so look for part two very soon!
Hemp is healing, it’s a plant that has largely been demonized because of its strength and effectiveness to support our bodies through nature.
